Drosera Hercules X – Pot of Power

R300,00

Drosera ‘Hercules’ Seedlings – A Pot of Pure Power!

One Pot, Multiple Plants and a Whole Lot of Potential! 🪰😄 PLUS the excitement of watching your very own little sundew army grow! Perfect for adventurous growers and collectors who enjoy a little botanical surprise.

This Pot of Power contains approximately 5–10+ healthy Drosera seedlings, grown from seed collected from my magnificent Drosera ‘Hercules’. Sown in July 2025, these little beauties are already showing plenty of promise, with a mixture of sizes and lots of growing still to do!

Fancy a bit of mystery? While the seeds came from Drosera ‘Hercules’, I can’t guarantee whether the flowers were self-pollinated or received a little unexpected shenanigans from another sundew in the greenhouse. 😄 Some seedlings are already developing impressively sized leaves reminiscent of their ‘Hercules’ parent, but exactly how each little plant will turn out remains part of the adventure!

Please note: These are seed-grown seedlings of uncertain parentage and are not guaranteed to be genetically pure Drosera ‘Hercules’.

For more detail on the parents please check them on on this page. (Pictures are included in the Gallery)

Description

Sundews are relatively easy to care for so they are great for beginners. They are fascinating hunters, producing a glistening sticky dew on the leaves, which lure insects. When they land, they get glued to the leaf, and this glue starts to digest the insect. Cape Sundews are unique in that they curl their leaves around their victim enlarging the digestive area and digesting the prey much quicker.

Basic Growing Guidelines:

Light: Sundews need FULL to PART sun. The more light they get, the more intense the colouring will be, and the more dew they will produce.
Soil: Our standard carnivorous soil mix is ideal for this plant. (1 part peat to 1 part perlite.)
Feeding: You can supplement feeding with live flies, bugs, or crushed fish food flakes. A weekly spray of a light foliar fertilizer will also benefit the plant.
Humidity: 50 to 60% on average is ideal.
Water:  Keep the soil wet using the tray method but never let the water level get higher than 1/4 of the pot height. Use Reverse Osmosis, Distilled or Rain Water Only.
Temperature: Sundews can tolerate very high temperatures, however, dew production will stop if the plant gets too hot.
Dormancy: No winter dormancy is needed but growth will slow in colder climates.

A summary of plant care is provided with each plant.
